Earlier this year, I ran a contest for a session giveaway and SOULIFT won! Seriously, I believe everything happens for a reason and this was definitely a case of perfect timing. After hearing their story, it was clear to me that these ladies are winning at SO much more than just a contest! I'm so excited to share their new beginnings with you!

Grace Timms (left) was the owner of Lift, a barre studio, and Belinthia Elder (right), who goes by B, was the owner of Soulshine, a yoga studio. Their paths crossed in the summer of 2017 and they joke that it was "love at first sight", as the two quickly became close friends! It was at that point that they decided to build on their similarities and learn from each other's differences. They chose community over competition, which led to combining their businesses into what is now known as SOULIFT, located here in Florence!

Prior to merging their businesses, these two women refused to view each other as competition. They tested the waters by collaborating and co-hosting events that highlighted each of their studios. After receiving lots of positive feedback from their clients and enjoying the results they were achieving together, the two decided to move forward with their new business!

"We decided we were going to treat our business like we treat our marriages with our husbands. There are good days and there are bad days, but no matter what, we are always in it together!" - Grace

Both Grace and B can agree that one of the hardest parts of owning a business, is having patience when new ideas pop up and they have to wait to execute their plans accordingly. B admits that after being a registered dietitian for the past 12 years, business management has been one of her hardest personal struggles, but also one of her biggest opportunities for growth. Grace admits that while the teaching aspect of being a barre/Pilates instructor comes naturally, she still has a lot to learn when it comes to the business side of things, such as with bookkeeping and taxes! With that said, both are equally as excited to be together in this season of learning! As they go along, they realize how well their strengths and weaknesses compliment each other and how this is beneficial in achieving their set goals!

B thrives on introducing new clients to yoga for the first time and watching them discover the healthy benefits of their newfound interest! Grace loves the connection and friendships SOULIFT has allowed her to develop with her clients. Together, they both work to create a safe and judgement-free zone for their clients to find rest and stillness.
