We've all heard the saying "New Year, New Me". A new year comes along and we have the intention of making a "life-changing" promise in hopes of bettering ourselves for the next 365 days! Sometimes the changes stick. Sometimes it's only a matter of weeks- or days (no judgement!) -before we resort back to old ways, myself included. It's life and we're only human!
When I actually remember to set a New Year's resolution, I'm good 'til about March or so- then normal routines take over and I'm back into my same "day-in, day-out" rituals. I forget to drink an extra glass of water a day or I stop taking an hour out for "me" time. But this year? This year is DIFFERENT... but for REAL this time! :)
Last year presented us with a whirlwind of events that lead to some very welcomed changes. Those changes allowed for a fresh start this year! In less than a year, Ben and I planned a wedding, got married, transferred to South Carolina, quit our old jobs, sold our home, bought another and finally settled into our new lives here in Florence. This is THE fresh start that I've prayed for, night after night, for at least the past 5 years. This is the first year where I can focus SOLEY on my passion/dream job: Photography. This is the first year that I don't have to struggle through a draining work week, trapped behind a desk and tied to a phone at a "soul-sucking" 8-5 job. I no longer dread checking my own personal emails after a grueling 8 hours of sitting in front of a corporate computer. I'm 200% devoted to my new life as a FULL-TIME photographer and I COULD NOT be happier! :) :) :) There's no looking back or returning to the way things used to be!
The idea of change is scary, but the happiness that comes from the result of actual change is more than rewarding! If there's something out there that you're wanting or you're feeling called to do - God placed that on your heart for a reason. Stay focused on your goal. Have faith. Keep pushing. Pursue your dream with consistence, perseverance & prayer and you'll get it. Pray until something happens. God's timing isn't always your timing, but HIS timing is always PERFECT! He WILL give you the desires of your heart!
